SEMESTER DEFERMENT POLICY

Objective: This policy sets out the procedure and regulations applicable to students who wish to suspend their studies on a temporary basis and intend to resume their studies in the future. Taking a break from the course before the semester starts will be considered a deferment according to this Policy. This could be due to work, travel, or other personal reasons.

A student cannot defer the course for any less than the length of a semester i.e. 6 months at a given time. The maximum duration allowed for deferment is 12 months or 2 semesters for the entire full-time program. Students are allowed to either take 12 months deferment at one time or can split in 6 months 2 deferment. Students who have deferred their course can join the next semester without additional charges but require to inform and get the confirmation to join the semester at least one month prior through email. However, if there are any changes in the fee structure or any new fee is added when the student resumes course, the student may be required to pay according to the new fee structure as applicable at the time.

Any student wishing to defer the course due to any reason can request the deferment within one month from the semester start date. Student requires to submit the duly filled deferment form provided on the college website (https://businessschool.mv/deferment-form/) within one month from the semester start date. After the submission of the deferment request, deferment approval will be provided within 7 working days and the student will be notified accordingly through official channel of communication.

Any request for course deferment received after one month from the semester start date will not be considered and the student will be responsible for the loss of their attendance or any consequences arising out of it.
