PROGRAM CHANGE POLICY

  1. Objective: The objective of this policy is to define the conditions and procedures governing Program change requests submitted by students after the commencement of their academic program.
  2. Scope: This policy applies to all students enrolled at the college across all programs from Level 4 to Level 9, as specified in this document.
  3. Policy Statement: Students may request a change of Program only within the first one (1) month from the semester start date. Program change requests submitted after this period will not be permitted under any circumstances, unless otherwise specified in this policy.
  4. Eligibility and Applicability
    • The Program Change Policy is applicable only to the following programs:
      • Certificate Level 4 in Business
      • Certificate Level 4 in Information Technology
      • Bachelor of Business Administration
      • Bachelor of Human Resource Management
      • Bachelor of Accounting and Finance
      • Bachelor of Project Management
      • Masters of Business Administration
      • Master of Human Resource Management
    • This policy applies to all modes of study, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
  5. Conditions and Restrictions
    • Program change requests will be reviewed and processed on a case-by-case basis, subject to academic feasibility and regulatory requirements.
    • The processing time for a Program change request is up to 2 weeks from the date of submission of a complete application.
    • For students enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree full programs:
      • Program change requests will not be accepted for students who have completed their first year and are progressing to the second year.
      • Students wishing to change their Program in the third year must wait for the second-year batch audit approval of their results from the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).
      • This process may require the student to take a six (6) months / one-semester break from studies.
    • Students required to take a break must submit a Deferment Form as per institutional procedures.
      • Failure to submit the deferment form will result in the student being considered under the Re-registration Policy.
    • Students enrolled under the Free First Degree Scheme must inform the Ministry of Higher Education about the Program change after receiving the revised placement letter from the institution.
    • Students who have completed the second year in Business Administration or Human Resource Management will not be eligible to join the final year of the Bachelor of Accounting and Finance and the Bachelor of Project Management in the third year.
  6. Approval Authority: All Program change requests are subject to approval by the Assistant Dean of the college and must comply with regulatory requirements.
  7. Compliance: Students are required to adhere strictly to the provisions of this policy. Non-compliance may result in rejection of the Program change request or application of alternate institutional policies.
